Client: www.irunoninsulin.com

Case Study
I run on insulin is an online informational blog dedicated to living a healthy lifestyle with diabetes. It has become a side business in itself for it's creator and moderator. As this blog gains popularity and advertisement revenue, it's founder felt it necessary to establish a Brand ID. The parameters, vision and color scheme were quickly established, and our contract included multiple concept sketches along with 3 or more comps. In the end, the client went with probably the simplest layout. Never underestimate the appeal of simplicity.

Client: Gone Green Technology

Case Study
Gone Green Technology is a residential turbine distribution and installation start-up based out of Midlothian, TX. Servicing the greater Dallas / Fort Worth region, it provides minimal cost wind turbines for both residential and commercial purposes. This contract was brokered through my rep. in Dallas and required three digital comps. and final product. This had an extremely short lead time, but I was given free reign on it's content as long as it incorporated either the company initials, or complete name. My rep. provided the desired fonts and PMS colors. The only request of the client was that it be modern and "different".

Client: Well Seals LLC.

Case Study
Well Seals, LLC, is a manufacturer and distribution organization providing elastomer products for the oil and gas industry. Located in Arlington, TX; this contract was brokered through my Texas rep. Though this was originally dealt as a simple re-vamp of an existing logo, I also offered them alternatives which led to a re-negotiation of the contract to include an entire business suite. The new deal included 3 versions of the alternative icon I created along with 2 versions of each: business card, letter-head and envelope.

Client: Stephen F. Pullis, Massage Therapy

Case Study
Stephen Pullis Massage Therapy operates out of San Francisco, in the Castro District. Mr. Pullis was referred to me through a mutual friend, and was by all accounts and purposes, my first client on a professional basis. Mr. Pullis's business was expanding, and he wanted to develop a brand for his organization that was elegant, yet modern. He had very strict color preferences, and encouraged me to maintain a focus on the curvature of the back, and his initials. He originally wanted to include a human hand graphic, then dropped the idea as outdated. Our contract included no less than 3 conceptual sketches and at least two digital comps. With slight tweaking, he was very happy with the end product.

Client: General Atomics, Electromagnetic Systems Group

Case Study
General Atomics (GA) is an independent contractor in both defense and domestic technologies, as well as a world leader in nuclear fusion research. This particular assignment for GA's Electromagnetic Systems Group consisted of producing photo-realistic artwork for electromagnetic propulsion technology still in research and development. Without any schematics and only a brief explanation of the technology involved, I developed these two tradeshow layouts paying close attention to visual details. The final product exceeded the client's expectations.

Client: General Atomics, Reconnaissance Systems Group

Case Study
General Atomics, Ronnaissance Systems Group develops proprietary technology to assist the armed forces, and other military organizations. Having developed a new mid-range, high-speed wireless communication technology, they required a high resolution graphic to be used in both print and multimedia collateral. I was provided with a reference image to duplicate, and required to keep all content vector in respect to it's cross-application use. Due to the nature of this artwork, I am obligated to monitor how much content is included for this portfolio.

Client: General Atomics, Reconnaissance Systems Group

Case Study
Though General Atomics mainly focuses on energy and defensive technologies, it often finds commercial applications for it's already developed technologies. Using a scaled down and slightly modified version of a long-range wireless data transfer unit, they have developed a wireless HDMI platform for lease to domestic and overseas manufacturers. Since they provide only the technology, and not the unit itself, they needed situational representation graphics to assist with their lab tests results and white papers. I developed these two graphics to be used in the home entertainment portion of the presentation.

Client: Tequila Fortaleza

Case Study
Tequila Fortaleza is a manufacturing and wholesale distributor of fine, artisan crafted tequila. The proprietors are part of the original Sauza family who brought tequila to western recognition, and made a name for it around the world. No longer having any relationship to the current Sauza brand, they decided to begin production of a new brand; using generations old original recipes and production methods. Having met them through a mutual acquaintance, I was contracted to re-developed a multi-page photo gallery layout for distribution among their existing and potential clientele; along with use in their many promotional events.

Client: Tequila Fortaleza

Case Study
As it's brand recognition grows, I was contracted to develop "Shelf Talkers" to be used by Tequila Fortaleza's resale clients on their shelves. This project had a very short lead time, and required two layout sketches and press-ready deliverables. The most difficult aspect of this project was maintaining existing brand imagery used in previous collateral developed by another artist, while fitting the large amount of content without the end product looking "busy".

Case Study
Holding many promotional events, Tequila Fortaleza contacted me to develop an update-able layout that could be used for each event with minimal content revision. They wanted the ability to drop in new photo's and information into a re-usable template, and update as necessary with each event. They requested a modern, yet classic look that included use of earth tones. This layout was to encompass use in both mid-size 11" x 17" poster, and hand-out 6" x 4" postcard size parameters. Once again, the difficulty with this layout was it's short lead time, and large amount of information to be included with a required amount of imagery and support graphics. The above pieces represent the first instance of event use.

Client: Save The Redwoods League

Case Study
Save The Redwoods League is a not-for-profit organization committed to preserving North American old-growth redwood groves and forests since 1918. Holding a competition in 2007 for a regional "Call to Action" informational flier, their purpose was to renew interest in the league and generate contributions to fund their efforts. Save The Redwoods League has since re-branded their identity, and the winning submissions to this competition are no longer in circulation.

Client: General Atomics, Reconnaissance Systems Group

Case Study
Developing innovative mobile communication technologies, General Atomics, Reconnaissance Systems Group often needs support images of an illustrative nature for product demonstration, as they do not develop the "on stage" components themselves. Used in a presentation for multiple branches of the military, these images were required to more effectively convey the application of the technology in question. Due to the nature of this artwork, I am obligated to monitor how much content is included for this portfolio.

Client: Sabio Digital

Case Study
Sabio Digital has been in the market of digital storage systems for quite some time; dealing mainly to large corporate entities. When they geared up to present smaller, more affordable systems to the general public, I was contracted to develop their package design. Our contract originally included three - five conceptual ideas, then another three - five compositions to work from. I was very fortunate in the that they fell in love with the first idea that I presented them. Hoping to distinguish themselves from the major brands, their highest priority was that their package should "stand out"
amongst the rest of similar branded devices. They wanted a simple, elegant and balanced layout to include a minimal color palate to compete with the growing apple computer consumer market.

Client: Sorel Vineyards

Case Study
Harvested from clones of the original primitivo vines taken from their ancestral family estate int he boot heal of Italy, and originally produced in a limited supply, Sorel Vineyards required a label for their boutique 2002 vintage. Having let it age for 6 years before release to the public, I was contracted through my Northern California rep. in 2008 to develop a label akin to the old victorian adverts that are popular now as t-shirts, lithographs and posters. They also wished that I incorporate a slightly modern flair, giving it a timeless appearance. I was provided with reference images to work from, and creative freedom to develop as I wished with the only requirement being that it somehow include an image of a single grape.
